Following the successful launch in November 2018 and with plans to become the tourism centre of the North Bank, Morgan Kunda Lodge has firmly secured its place on the map. With guests from Canada, America, Northern Europe, Poland and the UK, Morgan Kunda Lodge is proud of the 5 star ratings and reviews visitors have kindly written on TripAdvisor.

“I last visited The Gambia 28 years ago. It was great for birds then but a trip in early 2019 revealed it was far better than I remembered; it exceeded all my expectations. The Gambia is one of the most bird-rich places I have visited in recent years and I personally found it amongst the best in the world for both Birding and Bird Photography. It offers a wonderful and relaxing introduction to Africa.”

So far, 2019 has seen a mains supply of electricity connected to the area, ensuring 24/7 electricity. This is providing huge opportunity for the Lodge as a bird watching and tourist facility. In addition, there is increased accessibility to the Lodge with the opening of the new bridge from Soma to Farafenni, allowing visitors to have a quicker journey to the North Bank. This has helped make Morgan Kunda Lodge a perfect location to explore the hidden wonders of the area and a comfortable place to stay. These major influences combined are aiding the mission of Morgan Kunda Lodge to improve Gambian tourism.

Morgan Kunda Lodge continues with expansion plans this summer and in time for next season, with additional buildings and upgrades to the existing facilities to make them of a higher standard than most tourist hotels on the coast. The plans also include new bird pools, water holes and hides for guests to book for their private use. These will be set in exclusive locations around the Lodge to really capture those special wildlife moments at dusk and dawn.

All of this is planned with complete purpose and as part of the Responsible Tourism declaration Morgan Kunda supports local people with employment, ultimately helping to prevent backway migration.

Prices from £650 per person including flights and full board accommodation, based on two people sharing for 7 nights, excluding transfers. Morgan Kunda Lodge offers full board accommodation for £48 per person, per night, based on two people sharing a twin bed ensuite room, minimum stay 2 nights.
