Launching in time for the peak bird watching season in November 2018, Morgan Kunda Lodge offer new and exclusive accommodation and unique bird tours
31st May 2018 – Morgan Kunda Lodge
Until now it has not been possible to enjoy overnight breaks in the unique nature reserves north of the river, as the region has offered no tourist accommodation and has only been accessible via day excursions from the South. In November 2018 Morgan Kunda Lodge is set to change Gambian tourism with the launch of the very first holiday accommodation in the Northern region, bringing guests unrivalled access to untapped areas along the Bao Bolong and other secret locations.
Previously only observed via river boats, guests can now enjoy picturesque walking tours through the nature reserve directly from the Lodge and observe Gambia’s natural wildlife with exclusive access to the new viewing platform overlooking the Boa Bolong, the only one available in the region.
Expect to see the rare Egyptian Plover, White-Crested Tiger Bittern and Martial Eagle. There are exotic, but shy, Yellow Crowned Gonoleks, majestic Chanting Goshawk, Giant Kingfishers darting down to snap up their prey, Sunbirds flitting through fields of flowers and flocks of Black Kites and Egrets soaring out of mangroves.
Set in Jarjari Village, deep in the heart of the Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve, Northern Gambia, Morgan Kunda Lodge boasts eight twin en-suite lodges, eight twin tents for the more adventurous and a communal ‘Bantaba’, offering a place to unwind with a refreshing drink and freshly prepared meals. All profits from Morgan Kunda Lodge go towards our charity The Morgan Clark Foundation.
“We are thrilled with Gambia’s readmission into the Commonwealth and the tourism projections over the next five years is a real opportunity for the local community. The Lodge was built to raise funds that support Jarjari Village School which offers local children the opportunity of an education,” says Phil Morgan, Founder of Morgan Kunda Lodge.
The Gambia is only a six hour flight from the UK, providing simple access to the unique wildlife of The Gambia.
Prices from £650 per person including flights, accommodation and bird tour, based on two people sharing for 7 nights, peak season in November, staying at the Bakuto Hotel for 2 nights, Morgan Kunda Lodge for 3 nights all-inclusive and back to Bakuto Hotel for 2 nights before departure, excluding transfers. Visit www.morgankunda.com to book your holiday. Additional bird and sightseeing tours can be arranged.
